“Working with Tom was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I was always very skeptic about hiring a professional for fitness training and health advice - mainly because I'm really cheap and thought I could always just Google all of the information I needed. I've been working with Tom for about 7 months now and it's been an incredible experience. I have been athletic since childhood but I never approached my adult workouts in the context of health and wellness until I met Tom. He is simply amazing both in his ability to inspire and to teach. “First and foremost, Tom is a person I enjoy spending time with. He has an energy, intelligence and a magnetism that makes our time together fun, even when we're working really hard.
He asks lots of questions which is the sign of a great coach, so he understands how I'm doing and the best thing to do next. In the cases where I wasn't quite sure, he was skilled at suggesting goals for the short term and long term. For instance, I knew I wanted to run a faster 10K and wanted to focus mostly on cardio (run more to run faster). He convinced me that more strength training will help protect me from injury and that a stronger body ultimately translates to a faster one. I ended up being a better runner and then being excited and informed about other aspects of fitness I would have never learned about had it not been for Tom. I felt silly at the beginning setting goals around things like sleep, but now I understand how it's all connected and helps me become a better runner (and a better functioning human overall, haha).
I learned that he was selected as Equinox's trainer of the year for the U.S., which didn't surprise me, because he is super thorough and has a deep understanding of the science behind training. I also see that he has an always learning approach, so he is never satisfied with his own knowledge and always looking to improve. Even as we shifted to remote workouts, I could tell that Tom is tuned in during our sessions and focused on me. He guides me safely and provides motivation, coaching and sometimes, humor to help me along. On days I'm not feeling inspired, I can draw on the genuine enthusiasm Tom brings to each meeting. He loves and lives his work. I highly recommend him for people of all fitness levels and types of goals because he is great at his job and you will enjoy the session and ultimately, friendship.”
